PHOENIX — A 21-year-old Phoenix man was arrested after his 4-year-old son was shot and injured, authorities said Thursday.

Jose Adame Solis was arrested on a reckless endangerment charge after his son was shot by a handgun Solis’ 15-year-old brother was handling at their residence near 41st Street and McDowell Road at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Phoenix Police Sgt. Maggie Cox said in an email.

Solis allegedly showed the gun to the 15-year-old and let him handle it before the shooting occurred, police said.

Solis drove his son to the hospital and called 911 following the incident, police said.

The boy remains in the hospital in critical condition, according to police.

No other information was immediately available.
