Arizona man arrested, charged with 11 counts of child abuse

PHOENIX — An Arizona man was arrested on Thursday due to a child abuse warrant, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office announced in a press release.

The suspect, Angel Coronado, is being charged with 11 counts of child abuse and is being held on bond for $300,000, MCSO said.

According to authorities, Coronado tortured and abused his girlfriend’s 11- and 13-year-old children, including tasering and suffocating them in addition to hitting them with a belt or his fist.

“Regardless of the challenges, our deputies will work tirelessly to pursue child abusers and protect our children,” Sheriff Paul Penzone said in the release.

Coronado’s girlfriend, Cassandra Ledesma, was also arrested and charged with two counts of child abuse.

Ledesma and Coronado have two younger kids in common.
