Man dies in collision in Phoenix after swerving into oncoming traffic

Witnesses said the man who died in a fatal Phoenix collision was seen swerving in and out of lanes at a high speed before the incident, police said.

PHOENIX — A man died in a collision Sunday night after swerving into oncoming traffic, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Witnesses said he was seen swerving in and out of lanes at a high speed prior to the crash on 43rd Avenue south of Glendale Avenue, police said.

What happened before fatal Phoenix collision?

The man, who was in his mid-40s, lost control of the vehicle while approaching Ocotillo Road.

His car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a red vehicle heading southbound on 43rd Avenue, police said.

The driver of the red vehicle had minor injuries after the incident and didn’t require hospitalization.

However, the driver of the gray vehicle was unresponsive after the crash. Medical personnel with the Phoenix Fire Department brought him to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives investigating the fatal Phoenix collision are now searching for the man’s next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
