Update: Man injured in northwest Phoenix collision has died

PHOENIX — One of the two people hospitalized after a collision in northwest Phoenix last weekend has died, authorities announced Thursday.

Officers responded to the area of 47th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, near the Arizona State University West Valley Campus, around 2:50 a.m. Saturday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Phoenix Fire Department, which already had personnel on the scene, was able to successfully pull a man from his truck and a woman from her SUV. Both drivers were hospitalized.

The man, 27-year-old Adriano Clah, was initially listed in extremely critical condition, while the woman received treatment for a minor injury.

Clah died from his injuries on Wednesday, police said.

What led to the collision in north Phoenix?

Detectives determined that both vehicles were going westward on Thunderbird Road before the man’s truck rear-ended the woman’s SUV.

The collision caused the truck to skid into a traffic pole and the SUV to tip over and end up on an access road.
