Evacuation order lifted for Flag Fire near Kingman

PHOENIX — An evacuation order was lifted Friday for a community that was threatened by the Flag Fire burning near Kingman, officials said.

The order for Pine Lake was lifted at 10 a.m., according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Hualapai Mountain Park was still closed to visitors and nonresidents will be turned away.

“We greatly appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding during the evacuation process,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “The return of residents brings the Pine Lake community back to SET status and additional evacuations could be ordered depending on fire activity in the area.”

Containment on the 1,265-acre fire was at 62% on Sunday.

Increased humidity in the area on Tuesday allowed firefighters to take a more direct attack on the fire by building containment lines ahead of rising temperatures and drier weather.

The blaze was first reported around 2 p.m. Sunday and originated between the Flag Mine and Wild Cow Campground south of Kingman.

While the fire is believed to be human-caused, officials said a specific cause has yet to be determined.

A total of 327 personnel are fighting the blaze.
