Ethics trial postponed for Arias prosecutor Juan Martinez

PHOENIX — The ethics trial for Juan Martinez, the prosecutor made known nationally because of the Jodi Arias murder trial, was postponed after a special action filed by the Arizona State Bar was granted on Wednesday.

The Arizona Supreme Court will consider the State Bar’s special action regarding Martinez, who is on paid administrative leave, on April 28. The trial was scheduled for April 20.

The details of the special action are sealed, according to court documents.

A complaint filed against Martinez by the State Bar of Arizona last March alleged sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior with a juror during the Arias trial.

Martinez was also accused of having a relationship with a blogger covering the trial and leaking the identity of a juror to her.

Other accusations included making unwanted advances to office staff members and gave false statements in a deposition.

A judge dismissed some of those complaints in August.

In September, Martinez was reassigned and moved to the auto theft bureau.

Martinez was placed on paid administrative leave on Feb. 7.
