Arias prosecutor Juan Martinez placed on paid administrative leave

Juan Martinez, the Arizona prosecutor made known nationally by the Jodi Arias murder trial, was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday night.

A complaint filed by the State Bar of Arizona in March alleged sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior with a juror during the Arias trial. Martinez was also accused of having a relationship with a blogger covering the trial and leaking the identity of a juror to her.

Other accusations included making unwanted advances to office staff members and gave false statements in a deposition.

A judge dismissed some of these complaints in August.

On Tuesday, the attorney’s office released a statement announcing he had been placed on administrative leave.

“On Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, Juan Martinez was placed on paid administrative leave. We currently have no further comment on this personnel matter at this time,” the statement said.
