Driver dies after colliding with school bus, tow truck in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A man was killed Wednesday morning when the car he was driving crossed into oncoming traffic on a Phoenix street and hit a school bus and a tow truck, authorities said.

The man, who has not yet been identified, died after being taken to a hospital following the wreck, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

He was driving a silver sedan northbound on 19th Avenue near Cholla Street, between Peoria Avenue and Cactus Road, around 8:30 a.m. when his car veered into southbound traffic, police said.

The man driving the tow truck and the woman driving the school bus were not seriously injured in the collision, and neither showed signs of impairment, police said. The school bus wasn’t carrying any children.

It’s not yet know if impairment was a factor for the driver of the sedan, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
