Police investigating after dead body found at South Mountain park in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Police are investigating after discovering a dead body on a Phoenix mountain on Sunday morning.
Officers arrived to the South Mountain near the National Trail and found the man’s body around 8 a.m., police said.
The National Trail has an average hiking time of 5 to 6 hours. The city of Phoenix advises hikers to bring lots of hydration for the 15.5-mile trek.

Initial reports didn’t mention any obvious injuries on the body, so authorities are investigating to find the cause of the man’s death.
The medical examiner’s office will determine the man’s cause of death.
