PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) on Saturday morning warned those traveling north on Interstate 17 to expect severe traffic congestion.
“The northbound lanes of Interstate 17 are experiencing heavy delays due to a disabled vehicle in Black Canyon City,” according to a press release issued by ADOT just after 11 a.m.
According to ADOT, the vehicle was blocking the right lane at milepost 247 and traffic was backed up as far south as Anthem.
Motorists were advised to expect delays and to seek an alternate route.
Around 12:15 p.m., ADOT announced on X that the vehicle had been cleared but that traffic remained congested in the area.
Real-time highway conditions are available online at az511.gov, on the AZ511 app or by calling 511.
