1 person in critical condition due to an apartment fire in north Phoenix

PHOENIX — One person was left in “extremely critical condition” on Saturday night after an apartment fire broke out in north Phoenix, authorities said.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to a fire near Tatum Boulevard and Cactus Road around 7 p.m. which was coming from the second story of an apartment.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and pulled “an elderly male” out of the apartment.

After receiving treatment at the scene, the man was taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities said the fire’s cause is unknown at this time.

No firefighters were injured in the rescue.
