PHOENIX — Construction of an innovative new Mesa Hilton hotel has officially begun, according to a Tuesday news release from the developers behind the project.
VIVO Development Partners held a groundbreaking ceremony last Thursday at the hotel’s construction site within Gallery Park, a mixed-use development first announced in 2018.
Gallery Park is billed as an urban living experience that covers around 1 million square feet off Power Road south of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
Mesa City Councilmember Scott Somers, who attended the Dec. 5 event, said Gallery Park reflects the massive economic growth in the area.
“It represents a move towards Mesa’s vision to create spaces where people can work, live, and thrive, bringing more quality offerings to our community,” Somers said in the release.
Several tenants are already open for business in the area, including Panera Bread, Raising Canes, Mountain America Credit Union, MOD Pizza and In-N-Out Burger.
What’s unique about new Mesa Hilton hotel in Gallery Park?
VIVO Development Partners described the new Mesa Hilton hotel as “dual-branded.” The future lodge will include amenities and designs from two of the global brand’s different hotel designs: Tempo by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton.
Upon completion, this construction project will mark a milestone as the first hotel designed in the Tempo by Hilton brand in metro Phoenix.
The building will include a total of 174 rooms across four stories. Of those, 97 rooms will offer the upscale lifestyle designs reflective of Tempo by Hilton’s contemporary lifestyle brand.
Amenities will include an event lawn, indoor and outdoor fitness areas, private event spaces and a resort-style pool with cabanas.
On the other hand, Homewood Suites by Hilton will offer 66 extended-stay suites, which will serve guests who travel for either business or leisure.
Mesa Mayor John Giles, whose term ends this year, is looking forward to seeing how the hotel will help the area flourish.
“We’re excited to welcome the first Tempo by Hilton in the region,” Giles said in the release. “This is a welcome addition to Gallery Park that will serve southeast Mesa as it continues to attract visitors, businesses and families.”
The new Mesa Hilton hotel will also offer dining at a full-service restaurant and bar with a New American menu.
