Chandler home invasion suspects indicted along with 3 alleged helpers

Three teenagers face felony charges after a violent crime spree in Chandler that included the robbing of a rideshare driver and a home invasion that left an elderly man and his daughter injured, authorities announced on Wednesday.

Jesus Sandoval, 18, Jorge Jurado Martinez, 17, and Kevin Tristan, 17, were all indicted. Both Jurado Martinez and Tristan are being charged as adults.

Additionally, three older men are accused of trying to help the teenagers flee the country to escape prosecution.

A violent crime spree in Chandler

The series of events began on June 6 near Elliot Road and Arizona Avenue. According to prosecutors, a rideshare driver arrived to pick up passengers when an argument broke out. The driver was struck with a gun and robbed.

Shortly after the initial robbery, the Chandler Police Department responded to a call regarding a nearby home invasion. During the break-in, an elderly man was pistol-whipped and his daughter was shot, authorities said.

Teens face laundry list of felony charges

A grand jury indicted Sandoval and Jurado Martinez on a slew of identical charges, including:

• Two counts of armed robbery (Class 2 dangerous felony)
• Two counts of aggravated robbery (Class 3 dangerous felony)
• Three counts of aggravated assault (Class 3 dangerous felony)
• One count of first-degree burglary (Class 2 dangerous felony)

Jurado Martinez faces an additional count of misconduct involving weapons.

Meanwhile, Tristan was indicted on one count of first-degree burglary, one count of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.

Attempt to flee across the southern border stopped

The investigation also led to the arrests of three men accused of trying to help two of the teen suspects escape the country.

Pete Canez, 65, Robert Rosas, 59, and Anthony Rosas, 39, are accused of attempting to smuggle the suspects across the southern border into Mexico. All three men have been charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, which is a Class 5 felony.
