3 teens accused of vandalizing Chandler elementary school, causing $5,000 in damage

PHOENIX — Three teens are facing criminal charges after allegedly vandalizing a Chandler elementary school and causing $5,000 in damages, authorities announced Thursday.

The vandalism occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 at Conley Elementary School, near Frye and Dobson roads, the Chandler Police Department said.

Three teens — a 16-year-old boy as well as a 14-year-old boy and girl — are facing charges including burglary, criminal damage and interference with an educational institution.

Surveillance footage showed the trio entering a classroom and smashing multiple computers and tablets into the ground, destroying them, police said.

The teens are also accused of breaking into two of the school’s aluminum storage sheds. Police said they scattered sports equipment across the playground and rooftop.

The suspects were identified through tips generated from a Chandler Police social media post.
