Detached cement truck wheels crash through wall of occupied Arizona home

PHOENIX – An Arizona man escaped injury when a set of large wheels from a cement truck smashed through the wall of his home Wednesday night.

The Paulden resident was in the bathroom when he heard a loud crash in his bedroom around 7:35 p.m., according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

The joined wheels broke off a passing truck and slammed through a brick wall, YCSO said.

Video from the scene off State Route 89 shows a hole that extends nearly from the floor to the ceiling and two wheels sitting inside the home, just feet from the man’s bed.

Deputies launched a search for the vehicle and tracked down a cement truck that was missing two wheels on SR 89 about 15 miles north of the damaged home.

The driver said he wasn’t aware the wheels had detached from the axle, which remained in place.

Paulden is an unincorporated community north of Prescott, about 120 miles from downtown Phoenix.
