Driver dead after getting out of SUV, running into traffic following collision on US 60

A driver was struck and killed after getting into a collision and running into traffic on US 60 in Mesa on Wednesday morning.

PHOENIX – A driver was struck and killed after getting into a collision and running into traffic on US 60 in Mesa on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

A Jeep SUV rear-ended a commercial vehicle on eastbound US 60 near Higley Road shortly after 9 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Public safety.

After the collision, the SUV driver pulled over in front of the commercial vehicle, just west of the Higley Road off-ramp.

The woman then exited the SUV and ran into traffic, where she was struck by a Dodge truck and sustained fatal injuries, according to DPS.

The driver of the truck that hit the woman remained at the scene. Nobody was injured in the initial collision.

The right two lanes of eastbound US 60 and the Higley Road off-ramp were closed for several hours for the investigation, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

I would expect this kind of behavior from a squirrel - but a grown WOMAN should really know better than to run right out in front of oncoming traffic ..
