PHOENIX — A Casa Grande man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for enticement of a minor, authorities announced Wednesday.

Adam Tovar, 32, was sentenced on Oct. 22, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

U.S. District Judge Raner Collins sentenced Tovar to 120 months in prison.

After that, Tovar will gave a lifetime of supervised release. He’ll also have to register as a sex offender after leaving prison.

Why was Casa Grande man sentenced to 10 years in prison?

Tovar used Snapchat to talk to a minor victim Dec. 19-29 of 2022, prosecutors said.

During these 10 days, he coerced his victim into engaging in sexual activities with him, prosecutors said.

His actions align with the definition of grooming, which is a criminal offense in which offenders manipulate a position of trust in order to sexually exploit minors.

The Marana Police Department later found him with the minor victim while conducting a traffic stop on Dec. 29, 2022.

Police found the victim, whose name wasn’t released, riding in the front passenger seat of Tovar’s vehicle, prosecutors said.

Casa Grande man admitted to sexual crimes

Tovar later told authorities he had been driving the minor from his or her home to a hotel.

He also admitted he intended to engage in sexual acts with the victim, prosecutors said.

Tovar pleaded guilty to enticement of a minor on June 17.
