Bomb squad clears Luke Air Force Base after investigating threat

PHOENIX – Luke Air Force Base was given the all-clear Friday several hours after the West Valley military installation received a bomb threat, authorities said.

Explosive disposal units responded to the threat, which was made around 9 a.m.

The base announced around noon that the security sweep was completed.

No explosives were found, but the investigation is ongoing, the base said.

Traffic in and out of the base was impacted until 11:30 a.m.

Parts of the base were closed during the investigation, but there was no complete lockdown, officials said.

Luke is located near Northern Avenue and Litchfield Road, about 20 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix.
