BLVD Lake water feature area with walking path opens in Avondale

PHOENIX — The City of Avondale opened a $5.1 million water feature area this month.

The BLVD Lake includes a walking path with pedestrian bridges, a splash pad, fountains, a koi pond and a half-acre lake on the southeast corner of 114th Avenue and City Center Drive, according to a press release.

The splash pad will open in April when the weather heats up.

The attraction is a walkable distance from the Park Avenue District at The BLVD, a mixed-use development with sports fields at the center point.

“Whether you’re coming to The BLVD to participate in sports tournaments at the Randall McDaniel Sports Complex, staying at one of the hotels in Avondale, or simply looking for a scenic spot for passive recreation, the BLVD Lake feature is a great attraction,” Ken Chapa, Avondale Economic Development & Tourism Director, said in a statement.

The project broke ground in April 2021 and joins other recent installations at The BLVD including 3-D entryway signs.
