A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday following a brief standoff after he allegedly broke into a home in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call on Beautiful Lane near 27th Avenue and Baseline Road around 5 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The homeowner had safely exited the residence after the break-in, but the suspect remained inside.

After a brief barricade situation, police took 35-year-old Jose Villalobos into custody.

He was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered while breaking a glass door. He will be booked into jail on multiple felony charges, including robbery, when he gets out of the hospital, police said.

Earlier, Villalobos had been acting erratically while armed with a handgun inside a business at 27th Avenue and Baseline Road, police said.

After leaving the business he entered several residential yards before the break-in.
