Arizona US attorney appointed to Attorney General’s Advisory Committee

Arizona U.S. Attorney Timothy Courchaine was recently selected by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (AGAC).

Courchaine is among 18 U.S. Attorneys and First Assistant U.S. Attorneys from around the country selected to be part of the committee.

Since 1973, the AGAC’s purpose has been to provide the attorney general with counsel and advice on different matters, including national policy, management and procedure.

This is also a pivotal moment when the Department of Justice seeks to recruit top-level talent to serve long into the future. The District of Arizona is at the tip of the spear when it comes to guarding our national security and advancing Administration priorities. Courchaine became the U.S. attorney for the District of Arizona in February 2025. He’s in charge of 180 federal prosecutors and 160 support staff, which are distributed between offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma and Flagstaff.

The District of Arizona has one of the highest case volumes in the nation and prosecutes matters having to do with fraud, violent crime, illegal immigration and foreign terror organizations.

Additionally, the office is the felony prosecutors for the almost 22 federally-recognized that are located within the Grand Canyon State.

Courchaine started his career with Department of Justice in 2020 when he was an assistant U.S. attorney for Phoenix’s Criminal Division.
