Avondale police arrest 2 men connected to string of West Valley graffiti damage

Aug 30, 2022, 4:35 AM

PHOENIX — Two men were arrested after they were tied to a string of graffiti damage in the West Valley, authorities said.

Spencer Thiele, 27, and John Camacho, 30, were arrested on felony charges of criminal damage after officers served search warrants earlier in the month, the Avondale Police Department said in a press release on Monday.

The investigation into Thiele, also known as “Sier,” and Camacho, otherwise known as “Smerk,” started in May 2022 after graffiti featuring the words such as “SMERK,” “SIER,” “2MK, and “FBSK” were written on various properties.

Most of the damage was done in Avondale, but other West Valley police agencies, like Goodyear, reported similar damage in their jurisdictions, the release said.

At least 17 cases of damage were made in Avondale, along with 10 cases in Goodyear, exceeding $7,000 in private and city-owned property damage.

Thiele and Camacho admitted involvement during the investigation, police said.

Goodyear police assisted in the investigation.

Anyone who wants to report graffiti in Avondale can call the graffiti hotline at 623-333-2702 and 623-333-7003 for crime tips.
