Avondale 1-year-old pronounced dead after found unresponsive in bathtub

PHOENIX — A 1-year-old child was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in a bathtub on Sunday, authorities said.
Avondale police arrived at a residence near the 12200 block of W. Monroe Street regarding a call of a around 1:13 p.m. in response to a call reporting that the child had been found not breathing in a bathtub, Officer Jaret Redfearn told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
The child was then transported to a local hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead by medical personnel around 1:58 p.m.
Avondale police detectives have since been called to the residence where the incident occurred.
No further information was immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
