Arizona man found guilty on 7 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor

PHOENIX – An Arizona man will likely spend decades behind bars after being convicted last week on charges related to child sexual abuse material, authorities said.

A jury found Kurt Aaron Colin, 49, of Chino Valley guilty on seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor on Wednesday, according to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.

The prosecution was the culmination of an investigation launched in February 2024 after a federal Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent found that child sexual abuse material had been downloaded in Colin’s hometown.

The investigation by HSI and the Chino Valley Police Department led to a warrant being served at Colin’s home.

According to prosecutors, images of children who appeared to be under 6 years old and of children being sexually assaulted were found under the warrant.

Colin is set to be sentenced on May 5. He faces a minimum penalty of 70 years in prison, prosecutors said.

“My office will vigorously prosecute anyone who harms a child or seeks out sexual images of young kids,” County Attorney Dennis McGrane said in a press release. “I hope the lengthy prison sentence that will be imposed in this case deters anyone else from victimizing young children.”
