Arizona Humane Society to host additional free adoption event for all pets

PHOENIX — The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) is hosting another free adoption event for all pets this weekend.

The animal welfare organization is hosting an adoption event on Saturday after previously holding an event on June 28. The event saw a record-breaking 385 pets adopted, according to a Thursday announcement.

All pets will have a $0 adoption fees at all of its adoption locations. All pets will be spayed, neutered and microchipped and adopters will be given a kit of Hill’s Science Diet Food to take home for their pets.

Why is Arizona Humane Society hosting another adoption event?

The AHS says it currently is caring for almost 1,700 pets within its shelter and foster homes.

Despite the 385 pets that were adopted at the previous event, 250 more pets have now filled AHS kennels. The AHS anticipates more pets to enter their facilities during the Fourth of July weekend due to animals potentially fleeing because of fireworks, according to the announcement.
