PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey met with U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly and others on Monday as part of his two-day visit to Washington, D.C.

Ducey, a Republican, said he spoke with the Democrat Kelly on a variety of Arizona issues during their meeting.

“Connected today with Senator Kelly to discuss the crisis at our border, vaccine distribution and economic development in the state of Arizona,” Ducey said in a tweet. “Looking forward to partnering on these issues.”

Ducey chronicled his Monday in the nation’s capital — including the meeting with Kelly — in a series of tweets.

Border issues were a talking point in conversations with Republican U.S. Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and John Cornyn of Texas.

Collins and Cornyn were among a group of Repubilcan senators who visited the U.S.-Mexico border in late March.

Ducey visited the southern border on March 19 in Douglas, where he called the situation a crisis and urged Joe Biden’s administration to take action.

The governor also met with Bill Stepien, who was Donald Trump’s campaign manager for the 2020 election.

“Really nice to catch up with @BillStepien this morning,” Ducey said in a tweet. “Appreciate all of Bill’s dedicated work in 2020 in Arizona and across the country.”

We want to hear from you.
