Here’s how to help good causes, reduce your tax burden on Arizona Gives Day

PHOENIX – Hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the state are participating in Arizona Gives Day on Tuesday.

The annual campaign raises awareness of nonprofit programs and encourages Arizonans to support causes they believe in while reducing their state income tax burden.

Michael Morefield, a spokesperson for AZ Impact for Good, the advocacy group behind Arizona Gives Day, said this year’s campaign includes over 750 nonprofits.

“And that is literally all the way from Kingman to Bisbee to eastern Arizona; from … animal welfare groups to after-school programs to trail reconstruction. It’s truly the full breadth and width of nonprofits across Arizona,” Morefield told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News.

How to find Arizona Gives Day participants

Donations to participating charities can be made through azgives.org. The website has a searchable list with filter options such as mission area, service area and headquarters location.

The site also lets donors know which nonprofits qualify for Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) or Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization (QFCO) state tax credits.

Donations made to QCOs and QFCOs before the April 15 deadline can be applied to state returns for either the 2025 or 2026 season.

Complete lists of the state’s QCOs and QFCOs, as well as annual tax credit limits, can be found on the Arizona Department of Revenue website.

“The nonprofits are like the invisible force in Arizona that you don’t see all the things that they’re doing to make your life better. And this is a really great way of, one, finding nonprofits that are making your community better, and two, helping them build their mission,” Morefield said.

How much money does Arizona Gives Day raise for nonprofits?

Arizona Gives Day has raised over $51 million since it began in 2013. However, Arizona ranks 49th in the nation for charitable giving, according to WalletHub.

Morefield is hoping this year’s campaign generates between $4.5 million and $5 million.

The Arizona Gives Day total fell off in 2025 to about $4.3 million after the campaign raised about $5.3 million each of the previous two years.

“It’s been pretty difficult for nonprofits for the last year and a half,” Morefield said. “They need you now more than ever, and this way you know exactly how you can build a better community together.”
