ADOT opens final voting for 2025 Name-A-Snowplow contest

You can now vote to pick your favorite name out of 15 finalists in the Arizona Department of Transportation's 2025 Name-A-Snowplow contest.

PHOENIX — You can now vote to pick your favorite name out of 15 finalists in the Arizona Department of Transportation’s 2025 Name-A-Snowplow contest.

ADOT received more than 2,100 entries and chose 15 creative monikers to put up for the final online vote, which runs through Tuesday.

The six names with the most votes will be affixed to the driver’s side of snowplows that operate in Flagstaff, Williams, Payson and Globe.

What snowplow names were selected in previous ADOT contests?

Three winners were selected in each of the two previous contests: Snowbi-Wan Kenobi, Fast and Flurryous, and Scoopacabra last year; and Alice Scooper, Snowguaro and Frost Responder in the inaugural contest in 2022.

The state owns a total of about 200 snowplows. Operators can work day-and-night to clear highways of ice and snow.

“Safety is our priority, and it’s exciting to see so many Arizonans participating in this contest,” ADOT director Jennifer Toth said in a press release. “It’s a fun way to bring awareness to the important work our snowplow operators do to keep drivers safe and the highways open during snowstorms. We’re all looking forward to seeing this year’s creative, winning names!”
