PHOENIX — For Valley motorists planning on using Interstate 17 in north Phoenix on Sunday night, you may need to think ahead.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, overnight restrictions to the I-17 near Pinnacle Peak Road in north Phoenix are scheduled to start Sunday.
Northbound I-17 at Pinnacle Peak Road will be narrowed to one lane from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Southbound I-17 will also be narrowed to just one lane at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights (July 29 to Aug. 1). The northbound I-17 left lane will be closed in the same area from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The restrictions come as crews work to construct new bridges over the I-17 at Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads.
The project started in late 2018 and is expected to be completed in fall 2020.
