Body of 46-year-old man found along Colorado River following Grand Canyon flooding

Officials recovered the body of a 46-year-old man along the Colorado River on Sunday following flash flooding at the Grand Canyon on Saturday, according to the park service.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was found near Crystal Rapids, which is about a 25-mile hike from Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch, where the flooding occurred.

Officials said the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office was at the scene.

There were still 15 people missing or unaccounted for as of Sunday evening after dozens were evacuated due to the extreme weather.

While day use and dry camping will remain open, the park is planning to cease overnight hotel accommodations amid Stage 4 water restrictions beginning Monday.
