Man dies at hospital week after downtown Phoenix shooting that left 4 injured

PHOENIX — A man who was shot in downtown Phoenix one week ago died at the hospital, police announced Sunday.

Eyosiyas Belema Jote, 21, died from his injuries at the hospital on Saturday, according to Phoenix police.

He was one of four victims in a downtown Phoenix shooting that also left three women hospitalized last Sunday.

The Phoenix Police Department said 22-year-old Keon Joubert was located and arrested on multiple felony charges tied to the shooting, including aggravated assault, the day after the shooting.

Detectives do not believe there are any additional suspects related to this incident.

Officers responded to a call in the area of First and Washington streets around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday and found four people with gunshot wounds, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

All four individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where Belema Jote was listed in critical condition. The three women suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
