PHOENIX — Two men are dead after a shooting took place at a Phoenix bar early Sunday, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting call around 1:30 a.m. near 48th Street and McDowell Road and found a security guard, Jordan Davis, 34, with a gunshot wound in the parking lot, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Davis was a security guard who allegedly denied Daniel Stuart, 34, entry into the establishment, which led to a physical altercation where Davis was believed to be shot by Stuart, authorities said.

A third person, identified as another security guard at the establishment, allegedly returned fire with Davis at Stuart, according to police.

Stuart was able to leave the scene before arriving at a hospital later in the morning with gunshot wounds where he later died.

Police detained the third security guard and said he is cooperating with authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing.
