2 killed, 3 hurt in multivehicle accident in Phoenix

PHOENIX – Two people died and three others were injured in a multivehicle accident in north Phoenix on Tuesday night, authorities said.

Police said in an email that Kimberly Sorg, 24, and Michelle Kardis, 49, were fatally injured near 32nd Street and Cactus Road. The two were passengers in a northbound Nissan on 32nd Street that slammed into a block wall after it was struck by a northbound Toyota sedan around 8:30 p.m.

The Toyota wound up heading south and hit two more cars, one of which left the scene.

The 25-year-old driver of the Nissan suffered serious injuries, while the 23-year-old driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
