PHOENIX — Two Republican Maricopa County supervisors released a statement Monday condemning state Sen. Wendy Rogers, who has used social media to relay ideas they consider “un-American rhetoric.”
Chairman Bill Gates and Vice Chairman Clint Hickman said Rogers, who represents District 6, “baselessly declares that everyone who doesn’t support her conspiracy theories and beliefs is a Soros puppet, a traitor or a communist.”
The supervisors’ statement came as Rogers has recently praised white nationalist leaders, called for hanging her enemies and has attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Wendy Rogers does not represent American values or interests,” the supervisors said.
Gates and Hickman haven’t been the only Arizona Republicans to denounce Rogers’ actions.
Fellow state Sens. Paul Boyer and T.J. Shope have called out Rogers, with Shope noting on Twitter that he thinks her “comments are bulls***.”
Boyer fought back on Twitter against Rogers’ execution comments.
“You’re not a victim @WendyRogersAZ so quit pretending to be one,” Boyer said. “And stop using Christianity to justify race superiority and executing your political opponents.”
Rogers responded to them both Monday afternoon.
“I love my colleagues in the Arizona senate even though a couple of them are quite testy today,” Rogers tweeted.
Despite the push back from those in the GOP, Gov. Doug Ducey said Thursday he’d prefer Rogers over a Democrat.
“I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. And she’s still better than her opponent, Felicia French,” Ducey said following an event.
