2 FBI agents shot while executing search warrant in Mesa

PHOENIX – Two FBI special agents were injured in a shooting while executing a search warrant in Mesa on Friday morning, authorities said.

According to the FBI, agents were completing a federal search and arrest warrant around 6 a.m. near Dobson and Broadway roads when the agents were shot by 49-year-old Abraham Rivera.

One agent was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The second agent was treated at the scene with minor injuries.

Rivera, a suspected serial bank robber, was found dead.

There was no additional information available.

The investigation is ongoing.
