Pedestrian hospitalized, 2 others injured after 15-year-old runs red light in Glendale, police say

PHOENIX — A pedestrian was hospitalized and two others were injured after a 15-year-old driver allegedly ran a red light in Glendale, authorities said.

According to the Glendale Police Department, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Camelback Road.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the 15-year-old ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.

When the collision occurred, a pedestrian who was at the intersection was also struck and taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, police said. The pedestrian was still being cared for at the hospital as of around 6:30 p.m.

Two other people were also transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered serious.

According to police, the teen driver was not impaired but speed is believed to be a factor.

The roadway was expected to be closed for unknown amount of time as police investigate.
