Arizona opens $1 million in recycling grants for businesses, schools and local governments
Applications are due Sept. 29 for projects ranging from curbside recycling and hazardous waste collection to research and public education campaigns.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) announced Tuesday that $1 million in recycling grant funding is available for fiscal year 2027, with applications due Sept. 29.
The program is open to Arizona businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions and local governments.
Grants support projects ranging from curbside recycling and household hazardous waste collection to recycling research and public education campaigns.
“This funding gives local areas the power to innovate, generate new jobs and ensure Arizona’s valuable resources stay right here at home,” said JB Shaw, the agency’s recycling program coordinator.
When the grant relaunched in 2023 after a 10-year hiatus, it drew 68 applications requesting nearly $8 million, far exceeding available funds.
Applicants for the new round can seek funding in three categories: waste reduction assistance, educational outreach and recycling research and development.
ADEQ plans to hold workshops to guide applicants through the process ahead of the Sept. 29 deadline.
