1 dead, 1 in hospital following motorcycle crash in Mesa, impairment suspected

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a motorcycle-vehicle collision in Mesa on Saturday night.

PHOENIX — One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a motorcycle-vehicle collision in Mesa on Saturday night, authorities said.

The crash happened near Extension Road and University Drive around 9:16 p.m., according to the Mesa Police Department.

Details on fatal motorcycle crash

Police said that the vehicle was traveling westbound on University Drive when it allegedly attempted a left hand turn onto southbound Extension Road and failed to yield to the motorcycle, which was traveling eastbound.

According to Mesa PD, the motorcycle had two occupants.

The driver of the motorcycle Seth Hoffman, 34, died at the hospital. Meanwhile, the passenger 34-year-old Brianna Hoffman, is in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle Danica Zunich, 59, was not injured in the collision.

Impairment is suspected, authorities said.

An investigation is underway by the Vehicular Crimes Unit.

No other information was provided.
