1 dead after accident on westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway at Loop 101 interchange

One person was left dead after an accident on westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Fire crews responded around 1 p.m. to the Loop 101 Pima Freeway interchange and found a single vehicle that was heavily damaged, according to the Mesa Fire and Medical Department. The occupant was dead when firefighters arrived at the scene.

No other information was provided.

Two people were killed in a rollover crash at the same interchange on Sunday.
