Banner Health opens multispecialty medical center in downtown Goodyear

PHOENIX — Banner Health’s new multispecialty medical center in downtown Goodyear opens its doors to patients on Wednesday, the city announced.

The 65,000-square-foot facility is inside of Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ, located near 150th Drive and McDowell Road, and is the “first of its kind” in the city.

“Our mission is to make health care easier for people, and the opening of this new Banner Medical Center will do just that for the Goodyear community,” Banner Medical Group CEO Dr. Shiva Birdi said in the announcement. “We’re proud to offer next-level medical care as the city continues to grow, and we’re looking forward to helping families thrive in it.”

The facility is three stories and consists of 56 exam rooms as well as medical imaging suites, which are used for services such as CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound and mammography.

The services that will be offered at the medical center include primary care, orthopedics, endocrinology and medical imaging.

The announcement noted that inpatient volume growth in metro Phoenix is anticipated to grow by 7.9% over the next five years and outpatient volume is anticipated to rise by 17.9%, according to JLL research.

“The addition of Banner Health at GSQ is a tremendous benefit to our community,” Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “Not only will it provide our residents with greater access to quality health care closer to home, but it will also help strengthen Goodyear’s medical innovation corridor. Investments like this help create a more vibrant city where people want to love, work and do business.”

The facility was designed and built by Ryan Companies US, Inc., in partnership with Globe Corporation. It is also the first medical project within GSQ.

“The opening of this Banner Health Center is a big step forward in bringing the vision of GSQ to life,” Globe Corporation co-CEO, chairman and president George Getz said. “From day one, our goal for GSQ has been to create a walkable, dynamic downtown where people can live, work and access great amenities — including top-tier health care.”
