Harvard Investments has unveiled a new name for its 1,940-acre master-planned community in the West Valley.
The Goodyear complex’s new name will be “Solstice Foothills” after being formerly known as “Rio 1900” and “King Ranch” before that.
The new name is meant to reflect the “site’s desert setting, evolving vision and long-term role in shaping growth along the Gila River corridor,” according to a news release.
The community plans to offer various housing types, a walkable commercial core and water efficient and responsible desert designed amenities.
Solstice Foothills expects to have about 5,800 residences and the first homes are expected to be available in 2030.
“This is more than a rebrand. It’s a declaration of intent,” Amy Weidman, the vice president of development for Harvard Investments, said in the release. “Solstice Foothills reflects the land, the light and the long view we are taking as stewards of this extraordinary place.”
