Holiday cheer! Arizona Cardinals players visit Phoenix Children’s Hospital

PHOENIX — Some Arizona Cardinals players paid a special visit to Phoenix Children’s Hospital on Tuesday morning, just a few days before the Christmas holiday.

Fresh off their division-clinching win in Philadelphia, several players visited with kids and gave them stuffed puppy dogs as a holiday gift. The stuffed animals were wearing a white jersey with Cardinals players’ names on the back.

“I’m just thankful to have the opportunity to come here,” Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro said.. “Hopefully make a kid’s day, make kids smile, just have a positive impact.”

He said an event like the one at Phoenix Children’s puts things in perspective.

“We go out on the field, we play a game, we think that’s stressful,” Catanzaro said. “You come in here and you see the things [kids are going through] here, and it definitely puts it in perspective.”

Cardinals lineman Antoine McClain also enjoyed the chance to visit with some kids.

“That’s what it’s all about, it’s about giving back,” McClain said. “It brightens up my day as well to see kids.”

Also on hand for to visit patients at Phoenix Children’s were Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders and the team’s mascot, Big Red.
