Pot fired from cannon over border recovered by agents

Dec 11, 2012, 3:10 PM | Updated: 3:36 pm

Border Patrol agents on Friday recovered more than 30 cans of marijuana that were possibly fired over the border by a pneumatic-powered cannon.

The 33 cans, containing about 85 pounds of marijuana, were found in a field just hundreds of feet from the border near San Luiz, Ariz. It is believed the cans were propelled about 500 feet by the air-powered cannon.

A carbon dioxide tank was located nearby.

“By actually shooting it over the fence, they’re completely giving up with trying to backpack it in,” said Border Patrol Agent Linwood Estes.

The marijuana had an estimated street value of $42,500.
