2 caregivers arrested in Goodyear for allegedly neglecting, abusing 2 children

Two caregivers were arrested in Goodyear on Tuesday after a monthslong investigation found they had been neglecting and abusing 7- and 8-year-old children, authorities said.

Kebrina Hussain, 30, and Ezekiel Hussain, 29, were booked into jail on felony child abuse charges, according to the Goodyear Police Department.

On Aug. 3, school staff reported that one of the children had lost significant weight, appeared extremely thin and had bruises on their face and a lip injury.

Medical examinations found the child was malnourished and had injuries to the bottom of one foot. The evaluations found no medical reason for the malnutrition.

During an interview, the child told authorities they were not given regular meals and was punched, slapped and repeatedly struck on the bottom of their foot with a metal object.

Detectives searched the Hussains’ home, interviewed witnesses and reviewed prior law enforcement contacts regarding welfare concerns.

Investigators also discovered allegations that the Hussains abused another child in their care.
