Travelers will soon be able to take advantage of year-round nonstop flights between Phoenix and Munich.
The service will launch on Aug. 3. The route will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, connecting Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with Lufthansa’s hub at Munich Airport.
Lufthansa’s inaugural flight for this new service will depart Munich Airport at 1:20 p.m. It’s set to arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor at 4 p.m. The return flight will leave Phoenix at 5:50 p.m.
Sky Harbor to offer first nonstop service between Phoenix and Munich
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said the flights to Munich will give travelers access to a German hub that lets them connect to cities across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
“The addition of this new nonstop service from Phoenix to Munich is a win for our residents, our businesses and the community as a whole,” Gallego said in a Tuesday announcement. “Phoenix Sky Harbor is one of the best airports in the country, and Phoenix is a destination of choice for international tourism and investment.”
The new service will have 293 seats on an Airbus A350-900.
According to Sky Harbor, this new service will add $81.2 million in annual economic impact to metro Phoenix. The airport has an economic impact of more than $44 billion annually and services about 1,300 aircraft and 140,000 passengers each day.
