Salad and Go is coming back to Arizona as judge OKs sale of 22 more stores

The Salad and Go brand is planning an Arizona comeback after a bankruptcy judge on Wednesday approved selling the chain’s name to its founding chef.

The original chain’s breakup isn’t finished, though.

And Go Concepts LLC, the Tempe-based company that operated Salad and Go, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August and has been selling off its leases.

Nine other bidders paid almost $16 million for 35 more properties and the Salad and Go brand.

Salad and Go plans a comeback

The Salad and Go name, trademarks and recipes were sold for $180,000 to Beyond Salt and Pepper LLC, a company formed by Daniel Patiño, according to Arizona Corporation Commission records. Patiño is the co-founder and executive chef of Salad and Go.

Patiño is partnering with Hospitality First Concepts to bring the brand back to its roots in Gilbert, according to an announcement.

They purchased the location at 3299 E. Williams Field Road in Gilbert.

“When I saw the opportunity to rebuild Salad and Go, I couldn’t pass it up,” read the announcement.

The group plans to reopen Arizona locations, run company-owned restaurants and offer franchises nationwide.

Beyond Salt and Pepper won the lease on a single Salad and Go store in Gilbert for $1 and is in line for a second in Mesa. Those sales should finalize at an Oct. 20 hearing.

7 Brew deal delayed

The closing of 7 Brew’s purchase, which includes 36 Arizona locations, has been delayed to Oct. 27.

The company agreed to buy 63 locations in Arizona, Texas, Nevada and Oklahoma for $123.5 million.

A lawyer for Salad and Go’s creditors told the judge the delay was 7 Brew’s choice, not a business necessity. He warned the price could be renegotiated if the deal doesn’t close by Oct. 30, when the backup bidder’s offer expires.
