Two pilots suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a Marine Corps attack helicopter crash-landed Sunday night in a Lake Havasu State Park parking lot, officials said.
The aircraft, an AH-1Z Viper, belongs to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, part of Marine Aircraft Group 39 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the Marine Corps said in a statement Monday.
The squadron is based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton outside San Diego, California.
A Marine accident response team was working Monday to remove the helicopter, said Michelle Thompson, deputy assistant director for Arizona State Parks and Trails.
Crews were called to the area of London Bridge Road and the Windsor launch ramp, one of the park’s four boat ramps, at 10:15 p.m. for a reported aircraft emergency.
The pilots got out of the helicopter on their own and were taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center in stable condition, according to the Marine Corps.
Because the helicopter was leaking fuel, Lake Havasu City firefighters covered it in fire-suppressing foam.
No firefighters were hurt.
The Marine Corps said more information would be released when available.

Did Hegseth kick out all the competent workers?
Training incidents and injuries are out of control, and this is stateside too.
