Phoenix firefighters use specialized equipment to revive 2 dogs rescued from house fire

Firefighters used specialized lifesaving equipment to revive two pet dogs at the scene of a house fire in Phoenix on Sunday night.

Crews responded to the fire on Leodra Lane near 51st and Southern avenues in Laveen about 9:45 p.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

They deployed handlines to extinguish the flames while clearing the house of occupants.

No humans were home at the time, but firefighters found two dogs suffering from smoke inhalation.

They used “Fido bags” — specialized breathing devices that fit across animals’ mouths – to resuscitate the dogs. The pets were then taken to an animal hospital for additional treatment.

The fire department released video of the animals being revived on social media.

No firefighters were injured during the incident. The cause of the house fire is under investigation.
