Kiwanis Park celebrating reopening of north play area with free event

Kiwanis Park in Tempe is celebrating the grand reopening of its north play area with a park event on Sept. 23.

The free event will be held at the park, near Guadalupe and Baseline roads, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

As part of the grand reopening, the event will have several festivities, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, food trucks, art activities and more. Live music will be performed by the “Haley Green Band” at 6 p.m. and “Lunes” at 7 p.m.

Attendees can enjoy free water and sweet treats at the event, and food trucks from Sho Lov, Habanero’s Tacos and Pedaling Paletas.

Guests can also enjoy the park improvements at the event, including:

• A renovated playground with new equipment
• A large group ramada
• A climbable art sculpture
• Shade structures
• Additional trees
• A new restroom and concession building
• Improved parking and ramps
