Pedestrian dead after being struck by car in north Phoenix

A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car in north Phoenix early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers and firefighters were called to the area of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road just after 4 a.m. for reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision resulting in injuries, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene.

Authorities did not immediately identify the pedestrian who was killed or provide any information on what led to the crash.
